What inspired you to enter the wedding industry?
I was actually studying to be an attorney at the time, which was my desired career path. After speaking with a mentor about entering a specific field of law and having just had a newborn that I was toting to the law library every day in an infant carrier—I decided I wanted to be a part of a different memorable event of people’s lives: a celebration.

Why did you start Cocktails & Details?
It's always been about the celebration for me—the ardent appreciation of love, family, and a fabulous party. It just so happens, most of those occur with cocktails and details—in every sense! I wanted to incorporate some of my favorite things, literally cocktails and details, as I’ve always felt like they're the essentials of a fantastic party.

If you could change one thing about the weddings and special events industry, what would it be?
To make it less cookie cutter and more collaborative! There's literally nothing new under the sun. Not a thing. As opposed to pros feeling so competitive and guarded about what can be stolen from them, I wish that they really focused on creating something fresh and amazing with each other. Additionally, our clients come to us for our translation of their vision, not a duplicate of last weekend’s wedding. That translation is key to a phenomenal experience.

How does using Aisle Planner help you deliver the client experience you want to?
The way each client plans their wedding is different. From who they plan with, when they start planning, and where they start planning, AP helps our teams focus on that by tailoring the experience to them, rather than creating rigid structures. It molds itself effortlessly to our process and branding so that it feels cohesive and organic.

What is your favorite Aisle Planner feature?
I'm forever a fan of the Design Studio! Design is our favorite portion of planning, AP gives us the opportunity to share details in different facets, make comments, and share ideas and palettes. It’s so amazing to watch our visions come to life.

If you weren't the chief planner and designer at Cocktails & Details, what would you be doing instead, or what would your life be like?
I’d probably be sane.

What are three things you never show up without on event day?
The Cocktails & Details Kit that has magical items to handle any and every potential catastrophe on a wedding day, a Spotify playlist of all the important music (because you NEVER know), and plenty of lighters.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about starting their own planning and design company?
Think about what your magic is. This is really important. Though it may sound hokey, it’s absolutely real. What is it that you could do in your sleep? What do you do that makes you stand out in a crowd? How do others feel when they see or receive what you do? What are you absolutely phenomenal at? Do that and do it well. Don’t worry about copying someone or trying to do it like everyone else. The industry doesn’t need more of the same, it needs you. And, don’t be afraid to start under a seasoned planner, it could help you in so many ways.

Is there anything you are particularly excited about working on this year?
I could tell you, but... You know how the rest of that line goes!
